In the early days of the Internet, I advised my patients to be very wary of online relationships. Then I came across the Irritable Bowel Syndrome Self Help and Support Group and my mind was changed immediately. This enormous online community of IBS sufferers offered a safe, supportive means for IBS patients to share their struggles with the disorder. I found the honesty of the participants to be immensely touching, as their stories ranged from heart-breakingly tragic to laugh-out-loud funny. Throughout the site, there radiated a sense of optimism - that a person could actually learn how to have a life with IBS. If you haven't yet found this wonderful IBS resource, I highly recommend that you take a look. But then don't forget to "come on back now, you hear".
