Odor-Eating Underwear?

By November 15, 2012

Follow me on:

Times'Live out of South Africa has posted a report on a new textile product manufactured at a company in Japan, "Anti-fart underwear a hit in Japan". According to the report, the underwear is designed to eliminate odors. Not surprising to many of you, the inspiration for the new material was a doctor who treats people who have IBS.

The Japanese company is Seiren. Their website indicates that they produce a wide range of products, including this antibacterial and deodorizing apparel marketed under the name "DEOEST". I could find no information as to whether these products will be made available outside of Japan.

This is a brilliant idea! The smell associated with flatulence can be terribly embarrassing. Having clothing that neutralizes odors will certainly bring a sense of peace of mind. If I hear anything more in terms of availability, I will be sure to let you know.
