Last night, my son and I got into a discussion about salivary enzymes, of all things. I thought I had him beat, of course, as I am the About.com Guide to IBS. However, he did have an unfair advantage as he is currently taking high school biology! It is a shame that we retain so little of what we learned about digestion. I frequently find that my IBS patients in my practice get great help and relief when I spend a few minutes educating them as to how their digestive systems are supposed to work.
