Chronic Idiopathic Constipation

Definition: Diagnosis given to individuals who have a healthy bowel and suffer from chronic constipation, but whose symptoms are not relieved through standard treatment.

This disorder is differentiated from constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C) by the lack of pain as a primary symptom.
