Question: Will I eventually need surgery for my IBS?
Answer: No, there is, by definition, no structural or tissue abnormality in IBS and therefore, there is no need to undergo surgery for IBS. However, patients with IBS are at higher risk for unnecessary abdominal surgery. So it is important to seek a second opinion before consenting to any surgical procedure.
