The About.com Health Channel Blog Carnival provides a wonderful opportunity for health bloggers to share, disseminate, and integrate health information with other health writers. The Health Channel Blog Carnival also offers a unique, holistic experience for readers as they are exposed to alternative perspectives on the health topics that are relevant in their own lives.

Here's How It Works:

The Host's Role: Health Channel Guides will take turns hosting a carnival on a topic of their choice. After getting clearance from the Senior Health Editor, the host Guide will write a blog post describing the theme of the carnival and inviting other bloggers to write a blog that addresses the host's designated theme. In the invitation blog, the host will offer up possible questions relating to the theme to encourage discussion of the chosen topic. The invitation should be sent out in the beginning of the month, requiring submissions by the 25th of the month. The host will then write a blog post that collates and organizes the submissions, linking to each individual blog post, in a way that offers the reader a full perspective on the carnival theme. This blog carnival post will be published on the first day of the month following the original invitation post.

Participants' Role: Carnival participants will publish a blog post offering their unique perspective on the carnival's theme. Posts should consist of an original discussion of the carnival theme, follow blog carnival rules, and should link to the carnival host's invitation post. Posts must be published and submitted to the host by the 25th of the month. Once the host has published the link to the blog carnival post, participants should add that link to their submission.

Example: "This post is a part of the About.com Health Channel's blog carnival on Topic (link to carnival), hosted by Guide host name."
