The IBS Symptom Tracker is a helpful tool for IBS sufferers who own an iPhone or iPod Touch. This wonder of modern technology allows you to gather important health information with just a few taps on your hand-held device. Developed by a clinical psychologist, the app collects and charts data regarding your IBS symptoms.

About the Designer

Dr. Stephan R. Weinland is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in North Carolina entitled Behavioral Health Associates of NC, Inc. (BHANC, Inc.) He is also on the faculty of the UNC Center for Functional GI & Motility Disorders.

Features

Bowel Movement Assessment: Following each bowel movement, you rate the form of your stool, the strength of any urgency, and your level of abdominal pain.

Momentary Assessment: Several times during the course of your day you record information regarding a variety of symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, nausea, and bloating, as well as your stress level and sense of well being.

View Data & Send Report: The app charts your data over a period of 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. You can then have the charted results sent to the email address of your choice. You also have the option of sending your data to BHANC, Inc. for use in IBS research.

Is This App for You?

Absolutely, this app is for you if you are fortunate enough to own an iPhone or iPod Touch. The app is extremely user-friendly and it takes only moments to input your data. The IBS Symptom Tracker is a great way to clearly communicate the course of your IBS to your doctor. Tough for them to say it’s all in your head if they are looking at official-looking charts! The tool will also prove to be valuable in assessing the effects of any new treatment that you may decide try. I applaud Dr. Weinland for bringing the needs of IBS sufferers into the new century.

The app is available through the iTunes Store.
