National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week

Tireless IBS advocate and IBS discussion forum member stepjrn has alerted me to an effort to increase awareness of what it is like to live with chronic illness. "National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week" is an initiative sponsored by Rest Ministries, an online organization that describes itself as "a non-profit Christian organization that exists to serve people who live with chronic illness or pain, and their families, by providing spiritual, emotional, relational, and practical support through a variety of programs and resources."

Rest Ministries has designated the week of September 13 - 19, 2010 as this year's Awareness Week. With the theme of "Each One Can Reach One!", the ministry encourages all to leave sticky notes containing an encouraging message and the web address invisibleillness.com anywhere and everywhere. You can take a photo of your notes and upload them onto the Rest Ministries site.
