Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)

Definition: A condition in which there is an abnormally large amount of bacteria in the small intestine. This condition is thought to occur when the usual mechanisms of the body fail to keep the amount of bacteria in the small intestine at a minimum.
